From March 14 to 16, Silent Believers partnered with Riaya Industries and Al Akhawayn University’s Employability and Entrepreneurship Office to host the Hackathon on the Future of Distribution in Morocco.
Over the course of three days, 40 students were selected from more than 160 applicants. Working in teams and guided by 15 mentors from Silent Believers, CAM Leasing Crédit Agricole, and Riaya Industries, their mission was clear.
They were challenged to design innovative, tech-based distribution models for small, informal retailers. These retailers are central to many local economies, yet they remain underserved by current systems.
Students explored key themes such as logistics, financial feasibility, marketing, experience design, and user engagement.
The winning team launched La Zone, an app that links vendors directly to manufacturers. It removes intermediaries and streamlines the supply chain. The project stood out for its scalability, strong financial structure, gamified features, and marketing approach rooted in cultural insight.
Silent Believers awarded 60000 MAD in prizes. But the real reward was the number of internship offers and job interviews participants received.
The Hackathon on the Future of Distribution in Morocco was a true example of what happens when industry and academia join forces. Together, they created forward-thinking solutions for Morocco’s distribution challenges.
Stay tuned for the next chapter of the Hackathon on the Future of Distribution in Morocco. Following the success of the Ifrane edition, the journey continues at our headquarters in Berrechid, Casablanca, where new ideas will emerge, and fresh solutions will be developed alongside our partners and community of innovators.
